In the Notes and diagnostics, DT Max indicates that my client's tax return is ineligible for federal EFILE due to the following reason: "Schedule 9 field 340 cannot be lesser than the total of fields 329, 333 and 334 on Schedule 9." Is there any possibility to still transmit my client's tax return by EFILE?

In fact, CRA does not allow the electronic filing of the federal tax return when the amount for donations claimed on line 340 of Schedule 9 is lower than the total of some particular donations made by your client (appearing on lines 329, 333 and/or 334 of Schedule 9).

However, you may still transmit your client's tax return via EFILE. To do so, you must override the amount(s) shown on line 329, 333 and/or 334 of Schedule 9, as applicable, using the keyword Override, and enter an amount equal to or lower than the one displayed on line 340 of Schedule 9. Then, use the keyword EFILE and choose the option "Yes – even if ineligible".

Please note that, despite this override, the calculation of donations carried forward to future years will be performed accurately by DT Max.
